Here’s a breakdown of the reasons and the step-by-step solutions.
The Core Reason: Missing Metadata
By default, a new SPL token only has a mint address, a symbol, a name, and decimals defined in its core contract. For a logo and proper name to display across all UIs (Raydium, Phantom, Solscan, etc.), this information needs to be stored in a Metadata Account linked to your token's mint address.
This is done using the Metaplex Token Metadata Standard, which is the industry standard on Solana.

The Two Main Scenarios & Their SolutionsScenario 1: You Are the Token Creator
If you created the token, it's your responsibility to create this metadata account.
Solution: Use a Tool like "SPL Token UI" or "Metaplex's Sugar"
The easiest way for most creators is to use a user-friendly tool.
Step-by-Step using "SPL Token UI":
  • Go to the Tool: Navigate to SPL Token UI. This is a trusted, open-source tool maintained by Solana developers.
  • Connect Your Wallet: Connect the wallet that you used to create the token (this wallet must hold the "Update Authority" for the token).
  • Select Your Token: In the "Select Token" dropdown, find and choose your token's mint address.
  • Create Metadata:
    • Click on the "Metaplex" tab.
    • You will see fields for:
      • Name: The full name of your token (e.g., "My Awesome Project").
      • Symbol: A short ticker (e.g., "AWESOME").
      • Decimals: This should already be set from creation.
      • Description: A brief description of your project.
      • Image: Upload your logo file (typically a .png, recommended 200x200px or 400x400px).
      • Additional Links: You can add links to your website, Twitter, Telegram, etc.

  • Review and Create: Double-check all information. Once you confirm the transaction (and pay a small SOL fee for the account creation), the metadata will be uploaded to the Solana blockchain.

After a short time (a few minutes to an hour), clear your browser cache and check your token on Raydium again. The logo and name should now appear.

Scenario 2: You Are a Token Holder/Buyer
If you bought a token and it's not showing a logo, the issue is on the creator's side, but you can still investigate.
Solution 1: Verify the Token on Solscan
  • Go to Solscan.io.
  • Paste your token's mint address into the search bar.
  • On the token's page, look for the "Metaplex" section.

  • If the Metaplex section is missing or blank: The creator has not created any metadata at all. The token is "unverified." You should be cautious, as this is a red flag for many low-effort or scam tokens.
  • If the Metaplex section is populated but the logo still doesn't show on Raydium: There can be a propagation delay. Raydium and other frontends cache this data. It can take some time (from minutes to a few hours) for the update to be reflected everywhere.

Solution 2: Check the "Unknown Token" List in Your Wallet
Wallets like Phantom have a built-in list of known tokens. If a token isn't on this list, it shows as "Unknown." You can often "import" it or "add it to your wallet," which just tells your wallet to recognize its metadata.
  • In Phantom, if you see an "Unknown" token, click on it.
  • There is usually an option like "Add to Wallet" or "Import Token".
  • Confirm the action. This will fetch the available metadata and display it.

Important Considerations and Red Flags
  • Scam Tokens (Poocoin, etc.): Many meme or scam tokens deliberately do not set metadata to appear more anonymous or to create confusion. Always be extremely cautious when buying tokens without verified metadata.
  • Propagation Delay: As mentioned, even after metadata is set, it can take time for all websites and wallets to update their caches. Be patient.
  • Incorrect Metadata: Sometimes creators make a mistake the first time. They have the "Update Authority" to fix it, but it requires another transaction.
  • Check the "Update Authority": On Solscan, in the Metaplex section, check who the "Update Authority" is. If it's a wallet and not burned (111111111...), it means the creator can change the metadata (and even the logo) in the future. A burned authority is a sign of immutability and is generally seen as more trustworthy.

Summary Checklist
  • Creator? Use SPL Token UI to create your Metaplex metadata.
  • Holder? Check the token on Solscan.io to see if metadata exists.
  • Still not showing? Wait for cache propagation, try "importing" the token in your wallet, or clear your browser cache.
  • Always be cautious of tokens that remain unverified.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and (if you're the creator) solve the issue of your missing token logo and name on Raydium.
